Ellen Smith (and her husband, Dr. Alan Smith) are Presbyterian Missionaries in Russia.  Their work is sponsored (in part) by First Presbyterian Church of Cheraw.   Appointed in 2001, the Smiths coordinate the congregational twinning project where congregations in Russia are matched with congregations in the United States for friendship and mission.  The Smith's home church is in Fayetteville, NC.   They have three children.
